When you think of diets, odds are good you imagine deprivation
with no room for the foods you love. But the Cheat Your Way
Thin program is a diet with a twist. While there is plenty of
focus on eating healthy foods that will keep you in shape, this
program not only makes room for some cheating, but actually
makes it mandatory. It may sound too good to be true, but the
Cheat Days built into the Cheat Your Way Thin program actually
serve a purpose and help you lose weight.
Author Joel Marion builds his nutrition
program around the Glycemic Index, rating foods on the way in
which they affect the insulin levels in your blood. The way
your body reacts to foods determines whether you will gain or
lose weight, and the Cheat Your Way Thin system uses this fact
to provide a weekly diet system that speeds metabolism and
burns fat.

With an easy to understand method of
measuring how much you should eat based on portion sizes
measured against your hand, the Cheat Your Way Thin system
makes putting meals together simple. If you are a calorie
counter, the program has an option for you as well. Each day of
the week has a specific Glycemic Index approach. Each week
features a mix of Low Carb days, Low Glycemic Days and High
Glycemic Days. And of course the Cheat Days are a part of the
program as well.
The
program lists all of the foods that fall into each category so
that individuals can select the foods they want to eat and be
certain they fit into the program. Foods are chosen from the
Fats, Carbs, and Protein categories in specific amounts. A list
of “free vegetables” is also provided that are permitted in
unlimited quantities.
Marion breaks up the weight loss program into
three main phases, a Low Carb Priming Phase where you prepare
your body for the main part of the diet, a Core Phase where the
days are aligned in a specific order for weight loss, and a
Maintenance Phase. The Priming Phase lasts for three weeks,
after which you will enter the Core Phase for as long as it
takes to reach your goal weight. Once achieved, you move onto
the Maintenance Phase, which becomes a regular lifestyle. The
author provides specific methods for tracking progress by
measuring not just weight, but body fat percentage and also
inches around the waist and other parts of the
body.
Along with the nutrition program, there is
also a targeted fitness program to help boost metabolism and
burn fat. Marion recommends a system of Mixed Intensity
Training (MIT) to fit into the program. Each of the exercise
moves is explained and then placed in order; all you have to do
is follow along. The moves provided are simple and require no
advanced skills or complicated equipment.
The
Cheat Your Way Thin program is a comprehensive nutrition and
fitness plan that makes use of what is known about how the body
metabolizes different foods as well as what type of exercise
burns fat best. And the author Joel Marion provides plenty of
room for customizing to your needs, and makes the program easy
to follow. Best of all, you won’t feel deprived on this
program, thanks to the cheat days that let you eat the foods
you love.
